While trying to figure out the best snapshot to take while driving through Manhattan a taxi blocks my view of a pic that I was about to take of Madison Square Garden. Essentially the moral of this picture is that there a fee for inaction. Another interesting sign I noticed on the side of a new hi rise complex was a quote by Edward Albee, "You gotta have swine to show you where the truffles are". Enough lessons for the day.

The night continues
So after leaving the city, we all link up at Soda to celebrate the engagement. The sun comes up shortly thereafter and it can be said that it was a good night.

Two special events tonight
So while at the Bowery Poetry Club waiting for Jeanine Truly to perform I get word that DP just proposed to his girl. The icing on top was the performance. That makes me the last hold out.

From Christmas party to ....
Ok so after winning a Banana Republic gift card at the yearly Christmas party and having a couple of tequila shots I decide to hang out with some friends over at Negril's in the Village. It was a 60th birthday party being celebrated by my friends spinning straight old school reggae tunes from Kingston, Jamaica. Nice... Ok back to Brooklyn.

I really should be home
Ok.. So I get the call from DP who tells me to stop what I am doing. So I rush to drop off MS (I was obliged to since she is kicking... Don't ask!) There is a mini jazz concert at Ripple and I can safely say I am glad I didn't go home. Unfortunately I miss the first set but get there right in time for the second set. AW and band is magnificent.
Random meeting crash
So after having a strange past couple of days including having a man standing next to me on the subway catch a heart attack, witnessing a woman go into an frenzy after believing a bug was crawling on her (again on the subway), and having a religious fanatic preach to an enclosed audience that I am not among the chosen ones (guess again... On the subway), I decided to take a different train home. So while doing so I run into my buddy MS completely at random who was on her way to BC for some public meeting. She couldn't describe in detail the agenda of the event but considering I wasn't doing anything particularly important I decided to tag along. My first impression upon walking in is that it was the precursor to a grassroots gentrification program. After leaving I still feel the same way.

Alternative hip-hop?
I heard this on 99.5 FM while flipping stations and driving. Catchy but let me focus on the road.

Dude has a voice
So after having some Mexican food I convince my buddy (ML) to hang out despite the fact that she is falling asleep. I figure practicing to stay awake is a good way to either get super cranky or to simply take advantage of an opportunity you would have otherwise missed. Anyway, while heading uptown to head cross town to head back downtown again we happened to hear the vocal abilities of the depicted subway performer. He performed a rendition of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" in such a remarkable fashion it was hard to imagine that we were not actually listening to a professional studio recording. We put $2 and some change in his guitar case. Based upon the monetary feedback he was receiving I'm pretty sure he's not going to find it difficult to cover his living expenses. Anyway, our final destination was FBPC and it was pretty cool. Ok, ok, I know I've got to find another place to hang out but I find that spot simply irresistable.

Bad news
No sooner than I arrived in Brooklyn I learned that one of my great aunts passed away. So I flew out to Aguadilla to attend the funeral. I remember going to the same funeral home at least 7 times since I was a kid. Despite the bad news it is always good to be with family and friends. I'm catching a red eye flight back to NY tomorrow morning and right back to work again.

Adios Bermuda
Alas the Bermuda trip is over as we wait on the runway for the airplane to make the return trip to JFK. The chilly weather awaits. Let's see if things warm up at tonight's party at the Brooklyn museum or the subsequent after parties. By the way, the new Google maps for the Blackberry has a very handy locator function that uses cellular towers to approximate your location. In addition, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches come in handy when you are trying to cut down on food costs.
