While trying to figure out the best snapshot to take while driving through Manhattan a taxi blocks my view of a pic that I was about to take of Madison Square Garden. Essentially the moral of this picture is that there a fee for inaction. Another interesting sign I noticed on the side of a new hi rise complex was a quote by Edward Albee, "You gotta have swine to show you where the truffles are". Enough lessons for the day.

The night continues
So after leaving the city, we all link up at Soda to celebrate the engagement. The sun comes up shortly thereafter and it can be said that it was a good night.

Two special events tonight
So while at the Bowery Poetry Club waiting for Jeanine Truly to perform I get word that DP just proposed to his girl. The icing on top was the performance. That makes me the last hold out.

From Christmas party to ....
Ok so after winning a Banana Republic gift card at the yearly Christmas party and having a couple of tequila shots I decide to hang out with some friends over at Negril's in the Village. It was a 60th birthday party being celebrated by my friends spinning straight old school reggae tunes from Kingston, Jamaica. Nice... Ok back to Brooklyn.

I really should be home
Ok.. So I get the call from DP who tells me to stop what I am doing. So I rush to drop off MS (I was obliged to since she is kicking... Don't ask!) There is a mini jazz concert at Ripple and I can safely say I am glad I didn't go home. Unfortunately I miss the first set but get there right in time for the second set. AW and band is magnificent.
Random meeting crash
So after having a strange past couple of days including having a man standing next to me on the subway catch a heart attack, witnessing a woman go into an frenzy after believing a bug was crawling on her (again on the subway), and having a religious fanatic preach to an enclosed audience that I am not among the chosen ones (guess again... On the subway), I decided to take a different train home. So while doing so I run into my buddy MS completely at random who was on her way to BC for some public meeting. She couldn't describe in detail the agenda of the event but considering I wasn't doing anything particularly important I decided to tag along. My first impression upon walking in is that it was the precursor to a grassroots gentrification program. After leaving I still feel the same way.

Alternative hip-hop?
I heard this on 99.5 FM while flipping stations and driving. Catchy but let me focus on the road.

Dude has a voice
So after having some Mexican food I convince my buddy (ML) to hang out despite the fact that she is falling asleep. I figure practicing to stay awake is a good way to either get super cranky or to simply take advantage of an opportunity you would have otherwise missed. Anyway, while heading uptown to head cross town to head back downtown again we happened to hear the vocal abilities of the depicted subway performer. He performed a rendition of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" in such a remarkable fashion it was hard to imagine that we were not actually listening to a professional studio recording. We put $2 and some change in his guitar case. Based upon the monetary feedback he was receiving I'm pretty sure he's not going to find it difficult to cover his living expenses. Anyway, our final destination was FBPC and it was pretty cool. Ok, ok, I know I've got to find another place to hang out but I find that spot simply irresistable.

Bad news
No sooner than I arrived in Brooklyn I learned that one of my great aunts passed away. So I flew out to Aguadilla to attend the funeral. I remember going to the same funeral home at least 7 times since I was a kid. Despite the bad news it is always good to be with family and friends. I'm catching a red eye flight back to NY tomorrow morning and right back to work again.

Adios Bermuda
Alas the Bermuda trip is over as we wait on the runway for the airplane to make the return trip to JFK. The chilly weather awaits. Let's see if things warm up at tonight's party at the Brooklyn museum or the subsequent after parties. By the way, the new Google maps for the Blackberry has a very handy locator function that uses cellular towers to approximate your location. In addition, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches come in handy when you are trying to cut down on food costs.

Headed to Watford Bridge
After exploring the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute in Hamilton it was decided to hop on the 3 PM SeaExpress water ferry to Dockyard that makes an additional stop at Watford Bridge. Ironically this trip comes right after hearing about how man boats sank due to either various coral reefs or due to the unexplained phenomena of the Bermuda triangle. No worries, the captain looks very experienced.

Somewhere in Southampton Bermuda
So the past couple of days I've had the opportunity to traverse through Stoufville and Toronto, Ontario (Canada) and then through Buffalo, New York and then back to Brooklyn. With over 1100 miles and frozen toes I decided to thaw out from the cold in Southampton, Bermuda. My other alternative would have been Costa Rica but I couldn't face being on a plane for more than two hours. I'm a bit disappointed my Tom Tom won't give me a latitude / longitude GPS fix so I'll resort to an approximation using Google Earth. Anyway, below is a view from the hotel room.
Last minute deal to Bermuda
Currently on an American Airlines flight. One of those last minute deals. Hope the weather is agreeable.

Somewhere in Canada
So I was somehow convinced to go to Buffalo then afterwards to a small town north of Toronto. Peculiar thing happened about 15 minutes after taking this photo. A pickup truck two car lengths behind me on the Canadian QEW highway wind up hitting the left side rail and flipped over and its momentum kept it sliding forward in a slow ominous spin as it lay on its passenger side. Kind of makes you consider mortality, action, inaction and reaction.

New Lherisson.info domain
So... I decided to make Lherisson.com more professional and the Lherisson.info domain a bit more fun. Let's see how it goes. I'm still doing a terrible job updating the blog. I think its the salsa classes. Geesh, its difficult trying to be a full time geek.

They are filming again
So this morning on the way to the subway I noticed that film crew entourage that has been appearing in my neighborhood more often than I would like. Not that I have anything against film production in Brooklyn but they tend to create traffic tie ups that then lead to a residual increase in car honking. Anyway I think they have been filming a show called Canterburry's Law and the pictured trailer is labeled "Chester" and "Producers". Hopefully I haven't just tipped of the paparozzi.

Ok so I'm back at Fat Black Pussycat
One of the greatest things about living in New York is the live music. So the house band that plays at Fat Black Pussycat can navigate through Jimi Hendrix just as well as they can perform a Celia Cruz or Aretha Franklin tune . These guys can even accentuate a Tom Jones tune to a reggae melody. So if you have never been to NYC on a Thursday you must come here. Just to think I've got be at work in a few hours. Damn, I've been informed that there is another spot to check out tonight.
Hacking Trixbox
I'm trying to setup an asterisk PBX server. If you don't know this already this is the future of telephony. Take some Linux, some open source software and a some voice protocols such as H.323 and SIP and you have a very flexible and powerful PBX. Wish me luck!

Special Guest at Comedy Village
So I decided to stop over to Comedy Village (formerly Boston Comedy Club) at 9 PM on Sunday night. Somewhere around 10:45 PM Dave Chappelle decides to show up and take over the stage. Apparently he was on his way to the airport heading to London, changed his mind, and decided to stop by to do stand up instead. He's a pretty funny dude and I even had the chance to throw some CNN topics in his direction as his performance was completely ad-lib. Although I felt a bit bad for the other comedians that were supposed to appear because 3 hours later Dave was still on stage in a comedic ramble that consisted of prank calling the White House on a patron's cell phone and snapping pictures of the audience using another patron's high end professional digital Canon camera.

My reading material for tonight
After watching "The Kingdom" tonight I decided to stop over at Barnes and Nobles and pick up some reading material. I settled for "VoIP Hacks" and "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People". I hope one of these books will get me to stay away from my couch and stop my addiction to CNN.

All I can say
Is that the two following girls @ Fat Black Pussycat located in Greenwich Village, NYC who happen to do promotions for Jack Daniel's liqueur invited me to an event at the China Club this Tuesday. I would have felt special if they also didn't invite like 50 other people.

Caught a shark!
So after sitting in the water about a half mile south of Breezy Point (Far Rockaway) a baby sand shark was caught . Nothing for the record books but at least we know what they like to eat.

Sean Paul not far from Britney Spears
All I can say it was a dismall performance. You'd have to give the crowd Viagra to get them excited about his appearance .

Brooklyn Bacardi B Live Concert
i got a last minute invite to a concert at the Brooklyn Navy Yard . only one problem ... no tickets. i decide to show up at the last minute and after getting some tickets from people who got turned away and sneaking in past the first checkpoint and fast tracking through the VIP line it only further solidifies the fact that no one should ever give up despite what might seem unsurmountable obstales. Brooknam style in full effect. Peace!

It's about time
Finally, it only took several months of inactivity for the site to be updated. In the meantime I decided to redo the Calendar of Events. Not much now, but I'll keep it entertaining.
In the meantime I was pondering the concept of global warming. Do you think it would be a good idea to begin buying beach front property in Antarctica and around the North Pole now? Just a thought, but would that just be wrong?
